A Book of My Own

This program is a partnership between Goodwill Industries, the Reading Seed, and the Tucson Rotary Club. This program is designed to raise the level of literacy in our community by providing grade school children with free, gently used, age-appropriate books.

A recent study completed by the Rotary Club of Tucson found that 60% of Tucson area third graders are reading below grade level. Additionally, 70% of all High School drop-outs are reading below grade level when they drop-out of school and 90% of all youth in the Juvenile Court system are reading below grade level.

Under this partnership, Goodwill Industries provides free, gently used, age-appropriate books that are processed by the Rotary Club of Tucson volunteers and distributed to children of low-income Tucsonans.
