DO YOU WANT TO MENTOR A YOUTH?
Help to prepare an at-risk youth for a bright future! GoodGuidesTM Mentors are there to help build career plans and skills to prepare youth for school completion, post-secondary training and productive work!
Mentors must be able to:
- Commit one year (4 hours per month) to your mentee
- Serve as a positive role model and friend in a one-on-one, group or peer setting with your mentee(s)
- Build relationship by participating in program activities together
- Share information about your career and career path and explore career options with your mentee
- Help your mentee build self-esteem and motivation
- Promote and exhibit personal and social responsibility
- Help set goals and support youth as they work toward accomplishing them
- Be comfortable and able to establish appropriate boundaries with the mentee and his or her family
- Participate in a personal interview with GoodGuidesTM staff
- Provide three personal references
- Complete six hours of orientation and training
